We will

remove irrelevant parts
remove internal walls
identify and split physically disjoint surfaces
translate parts for proper fitting
join parts with identical boundaries
stitch together parts with boundaries that do not match
fill cracks, gaps, openings
correct inconsistent orientation (facets should point in the 'outward' direction)
improve aspect ratio
remove redundant vertices, edges, and facets
remove isolated vertices
remove degenerate facets
make sure that sides of adjacent facets match
resolve vertices located inside edges
identify and remove triplets (when more than two facets are sharing an edge)
identify and resolve overlapping facets
make sure that for inersecting surfaces the intersection line consists of edges that fit meshes on both surfaces
decimate mesh
perform scaling of the model or some of its parts
